June 2, 1953: Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II

The schools across the entire Commonwealth closed for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

  1.  Reasons for and against having a queen, or king, for Canada. Queen Elizabeth is now over 90.
  2.   Have the schools ever closed for a big reason for you – power failure, snow, etc.  

      What was it?  What do you remember you did?

  1.   Young people do not sing God Save the Queen often enough to learn the words. 

     Ask your teacher for the words to God Save the Queen and write them out 3 times.
