Imagine two students. Both of them are hard working, intelligent, persistent in the face of challenges – they have all the virtues of good students. BUT one of them writes at half the speed of the other.
Now imagine high school homework – 3 hours a night for the one who is fluent would be 6 hours of homework for the other one. Nobody has 6 hours to do homework, so the second student starts to skimp on one or other of the subjects or even to cheat.
Extreme Writing is designed for grades 4-8 for just that reason.
Fluency isn’t everything – but it sure is worth working on.
